Weekend Achievements - Ornaments

I've been really busy trying out some of the tutorials I've linked to in my side bar. First up: Christmas Stars and little house ornaments.

I love how both of these turned out, so I made the easier one (the star) multiple times to add to my Christmas gifts this year. They pretty much make themselves and I didn't have any problems whatsoever following the tutorial and getting a similar looking product.

I've had a hard time finding decorative buttons though... all the ones I could find were plastic and ugly, so I'll keep on looking for buttons and other alternatives for the center. Or I just perfect my centers to the point where I don't need decoration :)

I loved the house ornament too, though the pattern made a bit of a wonky house. I'll probably change it slightly for the next ones, but have a great project idea already - it has to do with St. John's, Newfoundland and the beautiful coloured houses you can find there...

The house is SO cute!

Some day we hope to do a boat trip up the St. Lawrence seaway and maybe we will get to see Newfoundland!

I just love when a quilter does a tutorial, even if it's something I would never do....like with a sewing machine :0)
